My free college football pick for Saturday takes us to Ypsilanti, Michigan. A state rivalry and a MAC rivalry all rolled up into one in Ypsilanti, as Western Michigan visits Eastern Michigan. Kickoff at Rynearson Stadium is set for 2 PM ET on Saturday.
Western Michigan has dominated this series, winning the last three by 44, 30, and 14 points. The 14-point win was from last season. You can see how the talent gap has closed.
Eastern Michigan is an improved team. They are coming off a three-game road trip. EMU went 0-3 SU, but 3-0 ATS on the trip. They were +14 at Kentucky and lost by just four points. EMU was +13 at Toledo and lost by just five points. They ended as +4.5 dogs at Army, but lost by just a single point.
Western Michigan is being overvalued, as is evident by its 2-5 ATS ledger. Clearly these are not PJ Fleck’s Broncos of years past. In WMU’s last contest, they lost 14-13 as 14-point home chalk against Akron.
The Broncos could also be over-confident considering how they have dominated this series. That would be a mistake. Eastern Michigan is an improved team, and the talent gap has closed.
My line on this game is a pick’em, so I see some value here.
