MLB Home Plate Umpire Report for Wednesday 6-12-2019

MLB home plate umpire report

REMINDER: THE UMPIRE REPORT SHOULD ONLY BE A SMALL PART OF YOUR MLB HANDICAPPING PROCESS. NEVER BET SOLELY BASED ON ANY ONE TREND, STAT, ETC.

Cubs at Rockies (Roberto Ortiz): Ortiz shows a slight OVER bias, so he’s in the right ballpark today.  But the Under cashed in his only other game behind the plate at Coors Field.

Diamondbacks at Phillies (Ryan Blakney): Blakney shows a strong UNDER bias, but the OVER is 2-1 in his three games calling balls & strikes at Citizens Bank Park.

Cardinals at Marlins (Jim Wolf): Wolf shows a strong UNDER bias, so it’s no surprise the UNDER is 10-6-1 in his 17 career games behind the plate at Marlins Park.

Pirates at Braves (Jansen Visconti): Visconti shows a strong OVER bias.  The Over is 1-1 in his two career games calling balls & strikes at SunTrust Park.

Padres at Giants (Marty Foster): Foster shows a decent UNDER bias.  The UNDER is 6-5-1 in his 12 career games behind the plate at Oracle Park, including 5-0-1 since 2013).

Athletics at Rays (Sean Barber): Barber shows a slight UNDER bias, and he’s in a pitchers park today.  The Under is 2-2 in his four career games calling balls & strikes at Tropicana Field.

Blue Jays at Orioles (Stu Scheurwater): Scheurwater shows a very strong OVER bias, so it’s surprising the Over is 1-2 in his three career games behind the plate at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Rangers at Red Sox (Victor Carapazza): Carapazza shows a very slight UNDER bias, but that has not held true here.  Fenway Park is a hitters park and the OVER is 6-1-1 when Carapazza has called balls & strikes here.

Mariners at Twins (Chad Fairchild): Fairchild doesn’t really show an overall bias either way.  The UNDER is 6-5 in his 11 career games behind the plate at Target Field, including 5-2 since 2012.

Tigers at Royals (Eric Cooper): Coop shows one of the strongest UNDER biases of all MLB umpires.  So it makes perfect sense that the UNDER is 13-6-1 in his 20 career games behind the plate at Kauffman Stadium.

Reds at Indians (Lance Barrett): LB shows a very slight UNDER bias, and the UNDER is 3-2 in his five career games calling balls & strikes at Progressive Field.

Brewers at Astros (Ryan Additon):  With a name like Add-it-on, you’d think he’d show some sort of Over bias.  But Additon actually shows the smallest of Under biases.  The UNDER cashed in his only other game behind the plate at Minute Maid Park.
