College Football Picks & MLB Plays, 9.20.14

Saturday was my busiest betting day in quite some time.  We had five plays in all between college football picks and MLB plays.

We started our betting day with the Under 7 in the Detroit at Kansas City MLB game.  Max Scherzer and James Shields gave us the performances I was expecting and the bullpens did enough (barely) to cash the ticket.

We had a pair of 2-Unit college football totals plays kick off at 3:30 PM ET.  We had the Under in the Central Michigan at Kansas game & the Under 51 in the Florida at Alabama contest.  The CMU-Kansas play was never in doubt.  CMU, missing some key offensive components, was no match for the Kansas defense.  And the Kansas offense wasn’t overwhelming either.

The Florida-Alabama Under really had no chance right out of the gate.  These SEC powers combined for 28 points in the first quarter.  Like I said, we really had no shot after that.  The game flew over the total in the third quarter.  I always say I’d really lose in lopsided fashion than in the final minute or so, so I was over this one before it even went final.

Then it was time for our final and biggest college football bet of the day.  We had a 3-Unit Max Bet on Memphis -12 over Middle Tennessee State.  Without going into the same detail that I did in my writeup, it was just a prime spot for the Tigers to exact revenge for a loss to MTSU last season.  It was close (spread wise) for a while, but Memphis pulled out to a 36-10 lead and won the game, 36-17.

Our betting day ended in heartbreaking fashion.  We had a 2-Unit MLB play on Pittsburgh over Milwaukee.  Edinson Volquez pitched very well.  Unfortunately, so did Matt Garza and a Brewers bullpen that pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings to preserve the shutout.  A sac fly in the top of the ninth inning was the difference in a 1-0 Brewers win.

A small winning day & another Max Bet winner in the books.  A winning college football Saturday, which was much needed.  I feel the tide turning for us in regards to our college football betting.  Stay tuned.
