college football free play - Penn State at Ohio State

Your college football free play takes us to Ohio Stadium on Saturday, as #6 Ohio State hosts #2 Penn State.

The game of the day on Saturday’s slate of college football games has to be the one in Columbus, Ohio.  #2 Penn State visits #6 Ohio State at The Horseshoe in a clash of Big Ten titans.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM ET, and the game is being televised on ABC.

Revenge-minded Hosts In Over Their Heads?

Penn State hosted Ohio State last season, and defeated the Buckeyes, 24-21.  So, Ohio State does have revenge motivation, but do they have enough to get it done?  The Buckeyes have played what I feel is a soft schedule.  They have been favored by at least 21 points in all but one game this season.  In that one game, Ohio State hosted Oklahoma and got blasted, 31-16.  In my opinion, Ohio State is only favored by this much because of its success over the years, coupled with recent lopsided scoreboards against much weaker competition.

Fat And Happy Cats?

Penn State got some revenge of its own last weekend, beating Michigan handily, 42-13, in Happy Valley.  Many people feel Penn State will be “fat and happy” off that revenge win.  I disagree.

Greater Revenge Motivation Than Last Week?

I feel Penn State has a bigger revenge role in this one even though they beat Ohio State last season.  Here’s why: Penn State won the Big Ten title game last season, but it was Ohio State that got the spot in the Final Four playoffs.  So, Penn State definitely has something to prove here.  They will want to leave no doubt that they are the ones that deserve the playoff spot this time around.

Your College Football Free Play for Saturday Is…

Penn State +6.5.  I look for the Nittany Lions to win this game outright.  I’m calling it: Penn State 27, Ohio State 24.  While the Buckeyes have a chance to get back into a playoff spot with a win here, I expect Penn State to solidify its #2 ranking.
